Experience: Great Circle Associates provides interim executive and strategic advisory services to for-profit and not for-profit organizations. The firm's value proposition builds on Lin Coughlin's experience and track record at envisioning and implementing disruptive but transformational strategies aimed at breaking from the status quo. Representative assignments include planning for and launching new business endeavors, post merger/acquisition integration activities, the elimination of operational and organizational redundancies and inefficiencies, and positioning for changes in ownership such as acquisitions, mergers, or divestitures. A seasoned operating executive, Coughlin has extensive start-up, turnaround and restructuring experience, including 10 years of for-profit board service, the last four of which she served as chair. Most recently she served as chief administrative officer of Cendant Corporation, a $20 billion Fortune 150 company in the travel, hospitality, vehicle rental, and real estate services sectors. Prior to joining Cendant, Coughlin was president of Linkage Inc., a global consulting firm specializing in organizational and leadership development. Coughlin is a former managing director at Scudder Investments, one of the 20 largest global asset management organizations, where she served as president of the Americas mutual funds group and chair of the boards of the Scudder, Kemper, and AARP mutual funds. She previously held management positions at Citibank and American Express Company. A graduate of Fordham University, Coughlin received a BA in economics, summa cum laude. Coughlin is co-editor of Enlightened Power: How Women Are Transforming the Practice of Leadership (Jossey Bass, 2005), a first-of-its-kind volume offering compelling insights into some of the nontraditional approaches twenty-first century women leaders are using to transform business, the media, education, politics, and culture across the nation and around the world. Coughlin serves on the board of the Madison Square Boys and Girls Club of NYC and as chair of the board of World Pulse, a global media enterprise. She is a member of the Women and Foreign Policy Group at the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the advisory board of Grameen America and other for-profit and not-for-profit companies.
