Chair-at-Large Chair and Chief Executive Officer, Cason Family Foundation Santa Barbara, CA Experience: Roxanne Mankin Cason has devoted herself globally to the empowerment of women and girls for over 25 years. Her roles include Save the Children Federation (STC): trustee since 2005; chair since 2009 of Global Education Advisory Board; spearheaded girls’ education and Save University Partnership for Education Research in 2003, a collaboration between STC and major universities to advance research; in 2009 a collaboration pilot launched in Egypt with STC, Center for Global Health and the Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement for literacy curricula in peace and tolerance for Early Childhood Development; chairs the Healing and Education through Art Endowment Campaign. Currently, Cason is partnering with Judith Bruce, Population Council, holding seminars on investing in girls to advance best practices in programming for impact and quality. She is collaborating with the Clinton Global Initiative to coordinate an innovative ¬¬¬¬¬initiative to empower sustainable programs for women, waste, and scavenging in developing countries. She serves on the Advisory Board of Grameen America. Cason was chair of the Women’s Leadership Board from 2003-2009, her leadership acknowledged by naming a conference room for her at Harvard Kennedy School (2009). She was also awarded the Women’s eNews 2009 21 Leaders for the 21st Century award. She has published "The Inflection Point for the World's Girls and Women" (Women's Media Center), "Gender Issues Must Move to Heart of Davos Agenda" (Women's eNews), and (as co-author) the Women Entrepreneurs edition of “A Cup of Cappuccino for the Entrepreneur's Spirit” (2010). |
